A Classic?

OK I'm in the market for some new pedals, I do like the new style shimano DX & would say they are right at the top of what I could swallow in regards to price :-\ (maybe a little too much!)
I have 2 pairs of the original DX (sadly for 1 piece cranks) laying around at my folks place & everyone & their dog had them back in the day!

What do you guys think? know any horror stories/good stories? & any other recommendations would be appreciated...
cheers

If they are like the ones I saw a while ago, they are flat (no concave) and felt very strange (crap). It was a while ago so they might be improved now. I might have some old shimano SX pedals with 9/16 spindles that you could swap into your old DXs? I just got a boot full of stuff from my Mum and Dads house so I'll look whats there. I think there might be 3 pairs of S&M Castilo bars

From what I've read the tall studs that come with these offer too much grip?! not sure about the concave deal Al, I'll try to find some more info. I do like the look of them though :-) the spindle swap is something that crossed my mind as I have some S&M DX's with 3-piece spindles in them, do you guys reckon they might fit??

Al, you saying about Castillo bars, Last night I completed all the upgrades on my bike & I was polishing it up & I thought how great Castillo bars look! I'm gonna find it difficult to part with mine & If they made a lighter current version (I wish!) I wouldn't hesitate to buy them :D

4-Piece bars Rule!!!!

BUY YOURS FROM ALEX NOW!!!! hehe!

I had a look at the old pedals I have at the weekend, 2 pairs of Shim DX's & a piar of S&M DX (think these were yours Milks?) & they all have 1/2" 1 piece threads :-(

think the s&ms were mine yea, rubbish.

trying to think of some way to modify cranks so you can run 1/2" pedals that can be undone reasonably easily so you can swap back again later.............

But seriously dude, how much heavier can one set of pedals be from another set?

And I'll buy your slams

Primo tenderizers are 800gms
Odyssey Jim's are around 680gms if I remember correctly...?

One's I'm looking at are 380gms

I know it's not the be all & end all as we have covered already but the reason I'm replacing them is to lighten up the bike, all this heavy over built stuff has to go...
If I can't replace stuff with something considerableeeey lighter then it won't get changed!

I think that if I change my bars pedals & hub then I will loose around 2 pounds+... & about 170 pounds lighter in the pocket!
